As if it were in question, Newsweek via MSNBC.com is reporting that “[M]ore than half the country (58 percent) say they wish the Bush presidency were simply over, a sentiment that is almost unanimous among Democrats (86 percent), and is shared by a clear majority (59 percent) of independents and even one in five (21 percent) Republicans.” Um, yeah, no shit. Sure, watching untalented douchebags prove just how douchey they really are is about as fantastic as television entertainment gets these days. But as TVWeek.com reported, “Coverage of the president’s State of the Union Address blanketed the 9 p.m. hour among all the major networks, while “American Idol” at 8 p.m. earned a higher rating than all four network airings of the Address combined.” Read more

Penn Jillette said “Luck is probability taken personally”.. Well actually it was Chip Denman that said it.. but whatever. That statement is so interesting, particularly because of how accurate it really is.

People rely on this mystical force called “luck” to help them through life and its generally a pretty harmless thing to do, well unless you’re into gambling. But I do find amusing the sorts of lengths people go to in order to improve their luck. Read more

Once again, the fires of the “culture war” between religious watchdogs and “Hollywood” (aka “movies”) are being fanned simply for the sake of getting pissed off. As Playfuls.com reports, The Catholic League has requested an investigation into whether or not the independent film “Houndog,” which recently premiered at the Sundance film festival, has broken any child pornography laws. Finally, someone (Keith Olberman) has the gumption to call FOX out for what it really is: Illegitimate propaganda. Not that that is going to do anything, since Fox will fire right back with the same discrediting doublespeak they’re famous (and popular) for, but at least he’s said what we’ve all been thinking, you know, on TV.

UPDATE: The Crooks and Liars video link is now down. Learn more about this here.

After you recover from the resulting hangover from last night’s SOTU (Do we really need an acronym for this? Jesus, we’re lazy.) drinking game last night, do two things: Read The New York TimesState of the Union editorial, it’s the only review you’ll need, and then focus all your attention on this, the rapidly unfolding trial of Vice President Dick Cheney’s former advisor, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby.

Um, nothing much to say about this except, remember how I said (above post), let’s hope “the next few years are merely lackluster rather than hellish?” Well, I have a feeling I know which one it’s going to be.
