Apparently Showing 13 Year Old Kids Porn Is Worse Than Raping Them

There’s an interesting case over in Connecticut of a 40 year substitute teacher being found guilty of “four counts of risk of injury to a minor, or impairing the morals of a child.”
The story goes along the lines of this: A teacher’s computer screen is overrun with popup windows displaying various pornographic material and a group of 7th grade students see it. She claims that the popup windows appeared by themself and would not go away. A computer expert tesified in her defense saying that he found traces of spyware on the computer, however a computer crimes “expert” claimed she would have had to physically click on the pornography links found in her computers history.
She now faces a maximum of 40 years in jail.
I am an IT consultant by trade, and over the years I have seen literally hundreds of computers infected with spyware. Your computer can become infected just by visiting a seemingly innocent website. I won’t bore you with specific details, but simply tell you that it is ENTIRELY possible that this teacher is innocent. If you need convincing, check out this video.
Now having said that, even if she was some sick deranged person that actually intended on showcasing this material to the students, 40 years is outrageous! I’ve seen child murderers and molesters end up with less time.
Keep in mind that these children were in 7th grade which makes them about 13. It is entirely normal for children of this age to start to know about sexual things because they are reaching puberty. It’s not some huge disaster if they see a naked person. Hell, they probably had a playboy stashed in their bag to look at behind the toilets at lunch time, I know I did!
I don’t see why pornography and sex is seen as “dirty”. It is a natural part of life, you wouldn’t be here if you parents didn’t get “dirty” with each other!
Now unfortunately the article about this case doesn’t seem to give the full story, but from what I’ve read and from what I know about spyware, she sounds perfectly innocent to me.
