No Jail For Killing While Driving Drunk

One of the main reasons people are against drugs is that think people will do crazy things while under the influence. To some degree this is true, but this is more true for legalized drugs such as alcohol than it is for illegal drugs such as marijuana.

I strongly support the legalization of all drugs because I don’t think it’s anyone business to restrict what you put into your body. The crazy thing is that alcohol is legal but marijuana isn’t, when alcohol is much more dangerous in regards to “doing crazy things while under the influence”. I also believe in strong punishments for people who commit crimes while under any sort of influence, but only the same punishment as if the criminal had been entirely sober. I believe that having access to drugs is your responsibility and what you do while under the influence is also your responsibility.

So when I hear about a man getting no jail time for killing an 18 year old while driving drunk, I get very angry. Especially when considering the possible 40 year imprisonment for the teacher found guilty of letting some 13 year olds get a glimpse at pornography.

What does this tell us? We can get away with murdering a teen if we are drunk, but if we let a kid see pictures of people doing what people do best then we’re doing hard time? Justice has not been done in either case.
