Hurrah! Rape Victim Who Killed Attacker Spared Death Penalty

If you were following the case of the Iranian girl sentenced to death for killing her rapist then you will be pleased to here that she has been spared the death penalty after a panel of judges decided that she had not committed intentional murder. What remains to be seen now is what her new punishment will be, unfortunately I cannot see her getting off too lightly.

What is especially sickening is that the family of the rapist was calling for the dealth penalty for the girl. It is very unfortunate that the boy had to die, and perhaps Nazanin should have tried extra hard to only wound the boy, but in that sort of situation you are acting on your survival instincts. I only wish that the boy had survived so that he could be punished properly. (Death is an easy way out)
