Cheney Snubs Congress, Has Huge Balls

The arrogant stubbornness (Is there any other kind?) of the Vice President Continues to amaze me daily. As CBSNews.com reports, Cheney offered up the first White House response to this week’s Senate resolution deriding the Presidents planned escalation ”augmentation” of troop levels in Iraq by more than 21,000.

“We are moving forward. The Congress has control over the purse strings. They have the right, obviously, if they want, to cut off funding,” Cheney said Wednesday in an occasionally testy CNN interview.”But in terms of this effort, the president has made his decision. We’ve consulted extensively with them. We’ll continue to consult with the Congress. But the fact of the matter is, we need to get the job done.”

A statement of such bravado and disregard for the legislative body of our government just after an almost cowering State of the Union from the President strikes a confusing contrast in posture. Either the White House is attempting to counterbalance Tuesday night’s mood, or the Vice President has learned no lessons from the American People in our mandate for drastic governmental change. Regardless, we must keep a close eye on our Vice President, for his unsubstantiated power seems now to be the administration’s most volatile.
